Okay, i apologise in advance for all of these photos if you're hungry.
Pre warning for these are key.
No words can describe the happiness i feel when i walk through the doors of The Earl Of March.
You've heard it all before - the atmosphere, taste, presentation. Everything. The experience is more than what a paying customer would ever want. You have to remember that this is actually a country side pub - I think thats easy to forget when you look at these plates.
This place is just 'MMMM' food. It makes me happy. SOO damn happy.
We were planning on it being a sunny summers day so we could sit outside and trial the new additions to the menu with the beautiful views that surround the area. Somehow we forgot that we live in England so of course that didn't work out. Pouring rain. However it's so cosy inside it really didn't phase us.
Pan-Fried Scallops, Feves, White Peach, Cucumber, Curry and Lime |
Not only is this comfort food that has been hand pick and foraged it's fresh and artistic. Every drop has been thought about. Even to the smallest degree like these cucamelons.
- I have never seen anything so damn cute. In fact i've never seen them in my life and i'm definitely not saying i'm worldly but usually i know whats on my plate. So to be walked through what is placed in front of you and learn new things / food is even more of a thumbs up for me. For anyone that is wondering they are a fruit that looks like a miniature watermelon but is actually a cucumber. The real test now is me growing these babies on my little veg window ledge.

Just look at that plate. It's the ultimate food porn. The ever preforming food porn.
I was a little worried going in a second time. Have you ever hyped up a time or place? and then the second time was a very disappointing 'oh' . Yup not the case here. Every single dish is a instagramable moment along with the MMMM. The very important MMMMMMMMMMM.

And then the showstopper was picked by Tom.
The Southdowns Lamb Five Ways.
Honestly how magic does it look?! Cupped in a glass dome was the Ewes cheese in a mist of smoke.
Do i really need to say anymore?
I went with a vegetarian option because i know they can cook meat amazingly and quite frankly i wanted to test them because how many nice things can i say about a place before its gets a little weird.
So with me once upon a time being a veggy ( not sure if i will go back after pregnancy if i'm quite honest ) i know how hard it is to make a stand alone dish with the 'mmm' i keep harping on about.
Of course they done it. Rolls eyes.
One who make a carrot log so delicious or two look so photogenic.

Yes of course desert was amazing. Did you expect anything else?
I will never stop dreaming of their brownie i had the first time but i did have to restrain myself and go for something different. Sticky pud, classic. Yum.
Tom went for Seasonal Fruit Compote with a Shortbread Crumble and Royal Bourbon Vanilla Ice Cream - whispers *posh crumble. Which was beautiful.
